ICE Took My Husband Away. Please Help Bring Him Home! We’re Raising Funds for an Immigration Attorney.
My name is Marina. My family consists of my husband, Alexander, our daughter, Alisa, and me. Almost three years ago, we came to the United States through the CBP One program seeking political asylum. We were waiting for our immigration court hearing, which was scheduled for 2028. Throughout this time, we have worked hard, studied, paid taxes, and obeyed the law. For the past two years, Sasha worked as a truck driver, spending weeks away from his family. Throughout his entire employment, he never received a single violation, including during transportation inspections. We have always managed our difficulties on our own and have never asked anyone for help.
However, during a routine traffic inspection in Arkansas, Sasha was detained and is now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). We believe his detention is unjustified because he did not violate any laws, and we already have an individual immigration court hearing scheduled in Sacramento that we have been waiting for.
Our lives changed in an instant. My daughter and I are now alone, not knowing where our loved one is, what is happening to him, or when we will be able to hug him again. Sasha was the sole breadwinner of our family, and I am currently studying to become a medical assistant. We have no relatives in the United States, and since my husband's detention, we have been left with absolutely no income. I am currently unemployed and urgently looking for any available work. Our essential housing and car payments alone total $3,000 per month, not including groceries, insurance, and other living expenses.
Right now, our most urgent need is to pay for an immigration attorney who can defend Sasha's rights and fight for his release. The attorney's fee is $9,000, and we simply do not have that money. My daughter and I also need temporary financial support to keep our home and get through this difficult period while I search for a job.
We are not asking anyone to support our family indefinitely. We simply want to get through this difficult time and stand on our own feet again. More than anything, we want to bring Sasha home so that our daughter can hug her dad again. Any donation or help sharing our story would mean the world to us.
If anyone is able to offer me a job, I would be deeply grateful. I am currently trying to sign up for delivery services so I can start earning money as soon as possible.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who cares about our story, supports us, or helps spread the word. Your kindness and compassion mean more to us than words can express.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Marina and Alisa
