My name is Satima, and I’m raising funds to purchase a reliable vehicle for myself and my children after a devastating hit-and-run accident caused by Department Homeland Security/Immigration Customs Enforcement (DHS/ICE) totaled my car.
On the morning of November 20th, my car was parked outside my home In Oakland, Ca when it became victim of a head-on collision during a high-speed chase involving DHS/ICE. The driver struck my vehicle and then ran from the scene. The impact was so severe that my car was declared totaled and can no longer be driven.
This loss has turned my life upside down. My car is my only means of transportation—not just for daily life, but for my livelihood and my family’s well-being. I am a 38-year-old Oakland native, born and raised in West Oakland. I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Psychology, and I work as a social worker supporting children with developmental disabilities. My job requires travel, and without a vehicle, I cannot reliably see my clients or continue doing the work I am committed to.
On top of that, I am a mother to a nine-year-old child and I am currently pregnant. I depend on my vehicle for school drop-offs, childcare, errands, and crucial prenatal appointments. Losing my car so suddenly has left me overwhelmed and unsure how to keep everything moving.
Although I will receive some compensation from insurance, it will not be nearly enough to replace my car with a safe and dependable vehicle—one that can support my work, hold car seats, transport my family, and get us where we need to be without breakdowns or constant repairs.
I am humbly asking for help to raise $25,000 so I can purchase a reliable, long-lasting vehicle that will allow me to continue supporting my clients, caring for my children, and safely attending my prenatal care.
Anything you can contribute—whether a donation or simply sharing this campaign—means more to me than words can express. Life has thrown me an unexpected hardship, but I am grateful for any kindness shown during this difficult time.
Thank you sincerely for reading and for supporting my family during this critical moment.
