ICanServe Foundation, Inc. is a Philippines-based advocacy group of breast cancer survivors and volunteers. It co-creates breast cancer control programs with local government as part of its initiative to promote early breast cancer detection, access to accurate diagnosis and timely treatment, survivorship care, palliative care, hospice care and patient navigation.

This October I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in order to raise money for ICanServe. Its a charity my family and I have worked in the past. Whilst my mother was in remission with her first battle with Breast Cancer, she supported ICanServe by running the New York Marathon. When she was in remission after her second battle with Breast Cancer, I competed in the Ironman 70.3 in Oman to follow in her footsteps and raise money for ICanServe once again.

In 2022, 2.3 million were diagnosed with Breast Cancer. And that number continues to grow, as we hear more stories of family and friends coming out with having been diagnosed. But what's even more striking is that in nations ranked low on the Human Development Index, like the Philippines, there is a lower rate of diagnosis but twice the rate of mortality from the disease. One thing my mother has always taught me is that if you are able, if you are alive, you have a responsibility to help and support those who can not support themselves. That's what she has done and is something we will both continue to do. But this time around, we'd like to invite you onto this journey, to help out a charity near and dear to our hearts. And if you choose to donate and have someone you know who has lost the fight against breast cancer, is currently in that battle, or is in remission, I invite you to write their first name on your donation as I will be wearing a pink shirt with the names of all the people we know who have been affected by Breast Cancer.
