To my dear family, friends, and loved ones,
My Uncle Ibrahim Abdus Salaam, also known to some of us as Derek Lee, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, at approximately 8:32 pm. He had stage 4 cancer, as well as other medical illnesses. His requests to me included a birthday celebration, which we did have on August 23, 2025. It was also a family reunion. He said he didn't know how much longer he had to live; therefore, he wanted me to invite as much family as I could. I did that, and he enjoyed himself greatly!
His second request to me was that I had to promise that I would do my hardest to bury him in Newburgh, N.Y., at Noor Cemetery, where my mother Olivia, his sister, is also buried. Ibrahim had no life insurance; therefore, I am seeking help financially. His body is currently in the morgue at University Hospital in Newark, N.J.
I need to bring him from there to Newburgh, N.Y., as soon as possible as his religion calls for him to be buried as quickly as possible.
Please help me by donating/contributing as much as possible, as soon as possible. I am told this process may cost $12,000 or more. Any financial help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your consideration of my uncle’s final wishes.
Humbly,
Gloria
