I'm trying to raise this money so that I can buy an accessible truck from All Terrain Conversions. The money will be used for the purchase of a truck (including taxes), the conversion, and delivery.
For anyone that doesn't know my story, here it is. In March of 2008, I was in a tragic accident when an SUV pulled out in front of my motorcycle. I had no time to stop or slow down and hit the back of the SUV at about 60mph. I hit so hard that my body totaled the SUV. I was thrown about 60 feet from the point of impact. I had to be resuscitated multiple times. I was air-lifted to a trama hospital where I had to have life-saving surgery. I had crushed my C5 vertebra and broken my T9 vertebra, collerbone, sternum, and multiple ribs. Also, both my lungs were collapsed, my heart was severely injured, and I had fluid in my chest. I was placed in the ICU (for a month), where I was in a coma for two weeks and on life-support for 16 days.
All this left me as a quadriplegic. I had to relearn many things, as well as, adjust to my disability. Today, I am still learning how to do many "daily tasks of living" and am going to school for a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. I have a personal aide come in 5 days a week to help me.
I am trying to be much more independant and by getting this modified truck, I will be able to go places and do more things without as much help.
