Nickels for Nickel's Heart
Donation protected
Ian Nickel is a trail worker for the national park service, a community organizer, a climate change fighter, and a really really good friend.
Ian was born with a congenital heart condition which affects one of his heart valves. He has had two major heart surgeries in his life and is about to undergo his third. His last surgery a few years ago was supposed to get him about 10 years worry free but his valve is struggling and immediate action is needed. These types of procedures take a lot of choices, planning, hospital visits, traveling, recovery, and money. It is our goal to help Ian by raising money so he doesn't have to worry about the financial stress of his health.
If you have been lucky enough to work alongside Ian, whether on the trail, or in the trenches of local government you know that he puts his entire heart into whatever he does. There is no part-way for Ian; building rock walls on Hurricane Hill, engaging politicians and urging them to do their best for their constituents, or watching your dog as a favor while you are out of town, Ian is going full steam ahead at it all. When Ian is done that rock wall is unshakable, those politicians are reconsidering their own policies, your dog is so worn out and happy she’s not even that stoked to see you come home, your stomach hurts from laughing too hard, and you feel inspired to be a better person.
Ian loves his friends and family, loves his work, loves his community and is always working to make progressive strides to better us all. He has given us his full heart and now his heart needs us.
Let's put some money towards this problem so that Ian can continue to change the world and better our planet wholeheartedly.
