Ten years ago at the age of 5, Ian and his family were involved in a tragic car accident that took the lives of both his mother and father and leaving Ian clinging to life, in and out of a coma for over 4 months. Ian's younger brother and sister were also in the car but managed to make it through with minor injuries. The doctors prognosis was not good and uncertain for Ian who eventually left the hospital legally blind, couldn't sit up by himself and was confined to a wheel chair that held him upright. Ian couldn't move his left side purposely, couldn't swallow liquids and could barely speak. Ian's Aunt, Melissa Coleman, dropped everything in her life after the accident and became the kids legal guardian or better put, their guardian angel. She has been there for the kids every step of the way, through recovery, through therapy, through the tears and through the successes. Melissa has been Ian's main health advocate all along the way. She has provided the kids with love, guidance and stability as if they were her own.
Ian is now 15 and has continued to amaze doctors every step of the way. When they said it couldn't be done, he showed them that his heart and desire to improve does not take "no" or "I cant" for an answer. Instead it has fueled Ian to work harder each day and literally, with each step, grow both mentally and physically stronger. He is now walking with use of a walker and is gaining more and more independence.
One of the most effective therapies for Ian is aqua-therapy. It is where he has seen amazing gains vs. standard therapy. The water provides support for him and is less impactful on his body, but makes him work hard and provides the resistance he needs to build his muscles and improve his dexterity safely. Currently there is only 1 Aqua Treadmill location in San Diego that offers this therapy. It is very difficult to book and get time on and very costly. We have partnered with a local company Watkins Wellness, the largest manufacturer of hot tubs, swim spas and hydrotherapy pools in the world. They own brands like Caldera Spas®, Hot Spring® Spas and Endless Pools®. Endless Pools launched Endless Pools Fitness Systems in 2016, a game changing product, ideal for Ian (see below):

Endless Pools products offer so many options that are beneficial to Ian’s continued improvement – especially when it’s in his own backyard, where it can be used DAILY. We are looking to raise funds for the balance, for installation and to provide the necessary improvements to their backyard. The funds will also be used for the plumbing and electrical as well as the maintenance and upkeep.
