Ian Kenny Fundraiser

Donation protected
My name is Mike Lanier. I am fundraising to help Ian Kenny with his medical expenses. Below is a summary of what is going on.

WHAT HAPPENED
Ian’s trouble started almost 3 years ago. As is often the case, it began with relatively minor issues. Trouble sleeping, waning appetite, and general ill feeling. His doctor said his bloodwork looked good; told him to clean his diet up, take vitamins, and get more sleep. He cleaned up the diet, increased his vitamins, and got as much sleep as can be expected of a former Marine and current full-time cop. But the small problems slowly grew in scale and frequency. His abdomen became significantly distended and weight loss increased. He would become physically sick without explanation, mild to severe back pain was a daily occurrence, lethargy, trouble standing, and even less sleep. Still, the doctor’s diagnosis remained the same despite Ian’s urging that something was wrong.

Earlier this year, Ian decided to get a second opinion. The second doctor immediately knew something was wrong. After a series of tests from this doctor as well as a specialist, he was diagnosed with Low Grade Appendiceal Mucinous Neoplasm (LAMN). For us non-MDs, its multiple tumors in his abdomen.

Ian’s new doctor put him on track to have the tumors removed. They installed a port in his chest, and he was admitted to Emory University for HIPEC surgery.

HIPEC is a procedure in which the cancerous tumors are surgically removed; then heated chemotherapy drugs are applied directly inside the abdomen to eliminate the remaining cancerous cells.

There were complications with the surgery and his initial recovery time of 2-6 months has been extended.

WHO IS IAN
For those who do not know Ian, he is a Florida native that served 9 years in the Marines. He is a father, an avid Battlefield gamer, and has been serving as a police officer in Chatham County Georgia for the last 6 years.

Ian was reluctant to allow this to be posted, not wanting to burden others with what he felt are his problems. However, some people have expressed a desire to help, but didn’t know how. So he agreed to open this up for anyone that wants to contribute. Anything you are able to give will go to his medical expenses as well any loss of income during his recovery.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
