High School Football Player Rapes Disabled Woman: Victim Gets Arrested In October 2017, Robin West was raped by a local high school football player she knew and trusted. She reported the incident to police, went through a rape kit, over 11 hours of questioning, and polygraph test (she passed). She fully cooperated with the authorities.  She never expected that the police would change her from the victim of the rape to the one accused. Days after the rape she went through hours of intense interrogation, the police got in her face and refused to let her leave for four hours. She then nothing for 6 months until the police arrested her at 5am on April 3, 2018. She was held their for over 10 hours before being released on bail. Not only was she victimized by the initial rape, but also by the very people who should have protected her. Robin West has severe rheumatoid arthritis, spinal degeneration, as well as other disabilities. Now she also suffers from PTSD, panic attacks, and night terrors from the rape and subsequent arrest and police harassment. She lives in fear of retaliation from her rapist, his family and the police. Robin is a well respected member of her community, and has been married for 13+ years to her first and only love. This incident is affecting not only her, but her 4 year old son, her marriage, family, and friends who care for her dearly. Robin did everything she was supposed to do. She reported her rape. Now she is fighting against the people who are supposed to protect rape victims. She is subject to Police injustice and a system that continues to punish her. Her attacker walks free in her neighborhood and could attack another woman or child. Robins end goal is not only to free herself, but once she has won her case, to help others in this situation, and become an advocate for rape and victim blaming.   We need to get this story out and help not only assist Robin in her fight for justice, but to also enlighten people to just how mistreated rape victims have become.
