Shed Some Light

Donation protected

Greetings friends, family, acquaintances, colleagues, and people who I have connected with through other networks, I reach out to you all at this time to ask for your help in raising funds an emerging project called 'Shed Some Light'.

'Shed the Light’ is a project started to share my interests in light and what it can do for another person physically and emotionally. Working within the constraints of the manufacturing process seeking to exploit the possibilities of the process and maximize the potential of the materials, the project Shed some Light emerged. The process of Laser Cutting was exploited through using the Illustrator Program, various materials and the exploration of the designer.  Overall the giving of these lights is to bring joy to the people of Cuba through 'shedding some light'.

I am a young Industrial designer and Sculptor from Massachusetts College of Art and Design who has been offered the amazing opportunity to travel to Cuba this upcoming January. For the past couple of months, I have been designing and making lights in hope to bring them to Cuba and hand them out to the people who reside there. In order to get enough of these lights made and ready by January 2, 2015, portable lights, materials to illustrate on and cut with shipping to Cuba are what the funding will go towards. In addition to the cost of these lights, the money funded will be going towards daily meals and travel. For this to be a success, I ask the small donation of $600. Even if you can only contribute in small amounts, every dollar counts and is of course greatly appreciated.

While in Cuba not only will i be giving the lights and immersing myself in culture, but i will be doing research on the automobiles and bikes for design purposes. Upon my return, i will be transferring the photos i have taken onto glass panes and making artwork as gifts to all those who have donated to show my appreciation to your contribution.

This is an opportunity that happens once in a lifetime. It will help me grow as a person, as artist and as a designer. I thank you in advance for taking the time to read and for considering donating to this cause. It means everything to me.

Peace and love,

Gia
