A few years ago, my brother entered Middle School with all the hope and excitement of any 12 year old kid. That did not last, as he was continuously beaten, harassed, and victimized by fellow students. Even more unfortunate, our school did not understand or intervene. So the abuse continued and escalated becasue the kids knew they would not be held accountable.
Our happy child is now closed off and non-verbal. He is terrified of crowds, especially kids. He suffers from insomnia, panic attacks, anxiety, and depression. I am sure people can imagine the heartbreak a family feels as their child's sensitive soul deteriorates in front of their eyes. My mom then quit her job to help home school him. This past summer, we had to hospitalize him when he felt suicidal. I have never felt so scared in my entire life.
But this fight is not over. He has medication that helps, and we have found some good therapists and pyschiatrists to support him. All of this is incredibly expensive - psychiatrists, counselors, hospital, and a therapeutic wilderness camp. This excellent treatment costs $500 per day and my brother will be there for weeks. If we can, it has been recommended he go to a Therapeutic Boarding School for the rest of high school as well. We are very hopeful that with the right kind of intensive therapy, my brother can heal and learn to walk the world with confidence and contentment. 
So as a family, we humbly ask for any support you can manage to help with these medical bills. We will win this fight against depression - because we have to. Thank you.
