I want to be able to spend time with her!

Hi, my name is Bill and I’m fundraising for my wife Donna. Well, that’s not really truthful because I’m really fundraising for both of us.

Donna and I have been married for 35 years now and I love this woman more than my life. She has stood by my side throughout everything. We have two children and we have a very good life together. We are extremely thankful that we have been blessed.

In 1996 Donna was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. At first the disease wasn’t too bad, but over the last maybe 10 years or so it’s gotten progressively worse. Donna is still able to walk for short distances, for which we are very thankful, and through the generosity of her brother we were able to have a power chair installed so she was able to use the stairs, enabling us to remain in or home.

Donna never complains, even though I know many times she is experiencing terrible pain in her arms and legs. We know we are blessed and things could be so much worse.

Donna has been on Social Security disability for quite a while now, but because she had a limited work history when she applied her payment is very little, but it does help. Donna is also the primary caregiver to our adult daughter Emily, who is autistic and unable to live on her own.

Fortunately I am in very good health and have been the sole breadwinner for our family. We do okay, but it doesn’t leave us much disposable income every month.

One of my favorite hobbies is hiking and wildlife photography, and I get out as much as I can. Of course it’s impossible for Donna to join me. In fact we can’t do many of the things couples of our age would love to do together because of Donna’s lack of mobility. Simple things like day trips are out of the question. I also know Donna would love to join me on some of my hikes, and there are places she could, with some assistance.

So to wrap this all up, what I am asking for is help in making that assistance a reality by way of a travel mobility scooter for Donna, so we can enjoy each other’s company and experience everything we can together.
