Hello,
My name is Mike Rozell.
My brother David is dying of cancer and is now currently under Hospice care. He is in Crystal River, Florida and lives there by himself.
I speak with him almost every day and I can tell by the strength of his voice and what he says that time is running out.
It is bad enough that I am losing my brother to cancer but that is not the worst thing that is happening. I was able to use some savings and scrounge up enough money to fly down there a couple of months ago to see him and to say goodbye. It was one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do. Even though, I am oh so thankful that I was able to...I got to hug him, kiss him and say I love you. My father and sister are not so lucky.
My Dad, who already lost a son in 1972 is unable to do this simply because we don't have the money. I am an artist and I make a fair living but it is very hard to save money. I was able to Fly home and see my family in September and again to see Dave recently but that is it. We are struggling for hours here and work is slow and I simply can't afford to make this happen and it breaks my heart.
So, I thought why not try a Go Fund Me. They do them for less heartbreaking reasons and so, I will try it.
I priced out what it would cost for me to fly from Madison to Albany, rent a mini van so my Dad can lay down, drive to Florida, get a room for three nights and see Dave. Then drive my Dad and sis back home, drop off the car and fly home. All in a week. My sister can't fly and really neither can my Dad so this is really the only way this can happen
It will cost between 2500.00 and 3000.00 to do it if I schedule it for mid December. That's nearly three weeks away. I don't even know if Dave will make it three weeks but I have to try. If we can meet this goal sooner, we can leave sooner. I can probably come up with an extra 500 or so on my end and my boss says I can go when I need to...so...there we are.
I am swallowing my pride and asking all of you to donate a couple of bucks to help this happen. I know it's the holidays and money is tight this is important and it will help an old man hold his sons hand and say goodbye.
