For Nick "I walk upon the river like it's easier than land"
Donation protected
Recently, our world was turned upside down when Nick received an unexpected diagnosis: stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to his liver; we went to the hospital with suspected food poisoning.
Nick was rushed in for emergency surgery to remove the blockage in his colon. The amazing Dr. Rice and his team were able to clear out the colon cancer. Now, we face the tough battle against liver cancer. Despite this life-altering news, Nick is determined to fight with everything he’s got. He’s ready to undergo treatments, surgeries, and whatever it takes to beat this disease and get back to doing what he loves with the people he loves most.
In light of this devastating news, Nick's positivity and ability to take every day in stride is inspiring.
Nick is a healthy, active 45-year-old who has always been passionate about life. He’s the type who finds peace on the water with a fishing rod in hand or while exploring the great outdoors. His family and friends admire him, and he lives every day with joy and gratitude. Nick is kind and generous, always willing to help, even a stranger, no questions asked. He lives to pay it forward and strongly believes in karma.
Nick is fortunate to have overwhelming support from his family, friends, and his New Horizon work family; however, with an illness of this magnitude, our healthcare system falls short in the support provided. Nick has been burdened with unexpected costs related to medical supplies, and we would like to help relieve this stress. Additionally, we want to raise enough money so Nick can focus on getting better, not the financial burden. Nick is fortunate to have a village behind him to support him in any way we can. In addition to the medical supplies, we have looked into alternative treatments offered through SunnyBrook and treatments not available in Canada. We will not know if the current treatments will work for a few more months, but we want to be as prepared as possible. This means potentially travelling to the US. This would come at a significant cost, but we will do anything to ensure Nick beats this terrible disease.
We are asking for support from our friends, family, and compassionate supporters who may be able to help ease this part of the journey.
Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer to alleviating the financial strain and allows Nick to focus solely on healing and recovery. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping my brother in your thoughts and sending good vibes our way as we navigate this new chapter.
Thank you so much for being part of this journey with us. Your kindness and generosity mean the world.
With love and gratitude,
Loren
