On October 17th I shattered my femur in an accident on the NYC subway line. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital and in acute rehab to regain basic movement in the leg and have been in outpatient physical therapy for the last few weeks. Things are going relatively well, all things considered. I'm a little stir crazy at home but am able to move as well as possible on crutches.

While I am fortunate enough to be insured, there are quite a few costs I didn't anticipate, assorted medical and training equipment, occupational therapy assistance tools to help me do some of the basic things that are harder to do while I recover. I have a scar as long as a battleship that has been painfully infected for the last few weeks in the most inconvenient possible place requiring a level of machination that would almost be funny if it didn't sting all day.
