When i heard Valeriu's story a few years ago, i remember thinking, how, despite his inability to see, Valeriu did not stop dreaming about his career and a better life for his family.
When Valeriu was just seven years old he stepped on a land mine in his garden and it exploded leaving him injured and blind. It is a miracle he is even alive.
Valeriu is now a teacher in Moldova, and is married with two beautiful children. Even though it seems like he beat the odds, life in Moldova is challenging when you have children and no where to live; especially when you are dealing with a disability of your own. When i first heard Valeriu's story he was living with his family on the school campus where he was teaching. However, the school was no longer able to offer housing to him and his family and they risked ending up on the streets. Valeriu had no other option but to ask people to financially assist him so that he might be able to buy a home for his family. Last year, through the aide of the Moldovan Government program called "Prima Casa" (first house), they were able to buy an apartment. They are very grateful to have a place to call home, however, the apartment is in very poor condition, lacking windows and doors. He needs $15,000 in order to bring his apartment to a livable condition .
Valeriu's story touched my heart so much that i reached out to him an made a promise to try to help him and his family. With my own passion for running , i set a goal to run a 5K for each donation made, until i am able to raise $5000 of the money his family needs.
Dear friends, Valeriu is a special person and helping him is of great purpose to me.
Please help me to make Valeriu's story achieve a happy ending. I would be truly grateful for any donation that you can give, and together we can help this family have a place that they can call their own, and in the end we can make this world a little bit better.
Please share.
