I Only Sleep When the Room is Pitch Black

IOSWTRIPB is an upcoming experimental horror short film, now in post-production! If we are able to produce the film for less than the allotted budget, the remainder of funds will be donated to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund to aid Palestinian children being impacted by Israeli occupation.

About the film: IOSWTRIPB is a manifestation of provocative imagery and sound which revolves around the reconstruction of a familiar, comfortable domestic environment into an unfamiliar, uncomfortable one. Power hierarchies, gender constructs and patriarchy, and the invisible roots of violence in society permeate the vaguely fantastical world of this haunting midnight’s fairy tale. The film is true to my belief that, in the real world, there exists no escape from a system innately structured around oppression and exploitation of the underprivileged, a real world in which it’s more favorable to turn a blind eye to the horrors that pervade us than to speak up about them… that is, if you have the fundamental power to speak at all.

About the filmmaker: Andy Krysiak (he/him/his) is an independent director and screenwriter. He is interested in oppressive power systems, gender constructs and relations, the struggle for creative individualism, and the absurdities of contemporary political discourse, and draws inspiration from a wide array of cinematic influences, from Michael Haneke to Harmony Korine to Claire Denis. His creative mentality prioritizes collaboration, individual expression, and clear communication, qualities which have resulted in a slew of successful film productions.
