From Dreams to Hunger Help Us Survive

My name is Fidaa, and I’m a mother of four children living in Gaza, Palestine.

We once lived a simple, peaceful life — until the war stole everything from us.

Before the war, we had a small home filled with love and warmth. My husband and I worked hard to give our children a good education and a stable life. We saved every penny to send them to the best schools. I dreamed of seeing them grow into educated, confident young people.

But the war changed everything.

Our home was destroyed. Our dreams shattered. Our stability gone.

Today, my children are out of school and without hope.

My eldest son had to leave his studies at Al-Azhari Institute — he once dreamed of studying abroad.

My son Ezz, who used to be top of his class, now struggles to read.

My little boy Omar was supposed to start first grade, but he still doesn’t know the alphabet.

Instead of reading and writing, my children have learned how to fetch water, wait in food lines, and cook over firewood.

I used to dream of giving them degrees — now I just want to give them a meal.

For the past two years, they haven’t tasted fruit or vegetables. They crave the simplest things that others take for granted.

My husband is unemployed. We can’t even afford flour. The most basic needs have become out of reach.

We are seeking your help to rent a small, safe home and provide basic necessities like food, water, and clothing.

I will receive the funds directly and use them to care for my four children: obaide, Ezz, Omar, and moaen, all of whom live with me in Gaza. I am their mother and full-time caregiver.
