Hello and thank you for hearing me out and viewing this fundraiser. The Bicycle Picture above this message is of a bike I had before I had it customize for my use and commute. It was the same brand name, JAISON.
Anyway, here's what happened very recently...
I had just finished moving my things from my old storage space to two new spaces in San Leandro after four hours of help from movers and almost two days without much rest of moving the rest of my things to reduce my storage bill, and I was very, VERY EXHAUSTED!! I used my electric bicycle as my main source of transportation and transit to my jobs and back home and around the San Francisco Bay Area and the bike was with me during the storage move.
To the point...
I was riding the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train back to my place in Antioch when, through my exhaustion, I fell asleep on the train. I had missed my stop to get to Antioch and was still sleeping. At approximately 11:47 pm on Wednesday, April 1st, I heard loud, banging noises coming from where my bike was and woke up to find that MY E-BIKE WAS GONE!! Along with it, was everything I was carrying from storage in my rear carrier and some bags on the handlebar. The BART train was stopped at Downtown Berkeley and, in my panic, I got off to try to find my e-bike and possessions, including my Coca-Cola micro-fridge, my SF Giants jacket, and my light and tripod from Walmart, but I was too late.
My e-bike that I depend on for commuting, shopping, making going to work and back home easier on my body was stolen!!
I did call the police and they took my statement and description of my e-bike and as much information as I could remember. Though the BART trains do have functioning cameras to see and find who took the bike, I don't hold any hope that my reliable e-bike will be recovered. I can replace most, if not all, of the things I had put on my bike rear carrier basket and the bags of things on the handlebar that were also stolen, but my top priority is to replace my e-bike as soon as possible and get back to commuting to work and earning my keeps.
I've had that stolen e-bike for almost two years and kept up with its maintenance, religiously, to keep it going and it had over 5000 miles on it, according to the last time I looked at my odometer.
The prices of e-bikes have gone down significantly since I last purchased my stolen one almost a few years ago, so the e-bikes today are not as expensive as it used to be (thank goodness). At least, the one that are online!
However, I also have to get new secure locks, rear basket AND an "AirTag-Style" GPS locator (to track my bike should they try to steal it again) and customize it for my commute, transportation and getting home when Public Transit terminates for the night and I do usually work a seasonal job at night that goes past the final Public Transit ride schedule, so an e-bike is VERY MUCH NEEDED WHERE I LIVE!
Ultimately and altogether, I need to raise $1,100!
I do apologize for the amount mix-up. Somewhere in trying to put together this fundraiser, given the stress I am currently under, the settings were set for the fundraiser goal to go up once I reached a certain amount. (example: I get $200, the goal goes up to $500 and so on). For me, I felt that wasn't being very transparent. It took me some time to find that setting to turn it off, but I recently found the goal setting and turned it off. I need your help raising funds for replacing my e-bike and to get back to working and getting back on my feet as soon as possible!! THE SOONER I CAN RAISE THE FUNDS, THE SOONER I CAN GET BACK ON TRACK!!
Please help me raise funds to replace my STOLEN electric bicycle and get back on my feet!!
Thank you for your help!
