I need your help to promote my new film ROOT
Donation protected
During lockdown DoP Chris Stevens and I made a silly short film called "The Playdate". It was about a boy who hires out his sisters rabbit to lonely people in need of company. The lonely man in the story, Mr Reese, happened to be afflicted by a strange disease turning him into a carrot. My dear friend and screen writer Andrew Payne, who very sadly passed away in January this year, pointed out that my story although amusing was breaking the rules because it was written in only 2 acts. So I decided to rewrite the story under his supervision, I cast a fabulous group of talented actors to surround my new carrot man now played by the fabulous Sam Louwyck. I convinced my good friends to lend me their houses to film in, convinced wonderful AMOK productions in Leuven to support us with Belgian crew and equipment and invaluable production service, I begged and raised just enough cash (not quite) and thankfully Ariane Lippens with her awesomely organised brain came to the rescue and helped steer me. We screened ROOT on the 17th May in Brussels and are now screening it in London on the 22nd June. See invitation attached for anyone able to make the screening you are most welcome.
Writing, planning, shooting, editing and completing this new 25minute film has been a wonderful collective experience and has also been extremely hard to achieve.
Frustratingly I still have some outstanding costs to cover with the DCP (Digital Cinema Package), rental of the London cinema and most importantly entering the film into as many festivals as possible for it to reach a wide audience and get noticed. ROOT is our calling card to the next adventure into film and brace yourselves because it is going to be quite extraordinary.
I need your support because I cannot do this alone. I have chosen to put all my energy into independent storytelling and filmmaking and until I can stand on my own two feet and earn a living from this folly I turn to you all for any support you can offer.
Thanking you in advance,
Jonty
