My name is Marcia López, and I'm trying not to let shame paralyze me.

I stop working in March 2025 after the surgeon who operated on my hip explained that my bones would start to crumble.

I've already exhausted my Employment insurance, and I think I've only worked in this country for two of the four years I've been here.

I'm trying to get the disability pension that Chile offers under an agreement with Canada. I submitted the application in September and am still sending the required documentation.

At the same time, since September, I've been dealing with the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction (MSDPR), which has somehow started retaliating against me because of my precarious situation.

For now, I can't continue fighting them because of an immigration setback.

Thanks to everyone who helped me with my April rent, I was able to pay my landlord (with interest), and they withdrew my eviction notice. I also had to pay the bank for the bounced check.
