Hello everyone,
I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart and a sense of urgency as my family faces an unprecedented crisis in Gaza, Palestine.
One day, we were living like any other family in besieged Gaza, experiencing all kinds of injustices. Our dreams and aspirations made my wonderful teacher parents dream of seeing us successful and distinguished as doctors and engineers. They worked day and night to see their children fulfill their dreams.
The joy of my brother's high school graduation and acceptance into medical school was our last victory and happiness that was halted due to the war.
The current situation has increasingly made it difficult for us to ensure the safety and well-being of our loved ones.
My name is Youssef, a recent medical graduate from the Arab Republic of Egypt, originally from Gaza City, coming from a family of 7. I received news of the bombing and destruction of our house in Rafah city 3 months ago, leading to the martyrdom of my father (the family's breadwinner) and injuries to the rest of the family. My family consists of my father (the martyr), my mother, and 3 brothers and 1 sister. My father did his best for us even as we lived under siege for decades. Despite the painful background of our lives, they are resilient, active, cheerful, and filled with dreams. Youssef, the eldest son (26 years old), dreams of pursuing a career in human medicine and becoming a skilled doctor. However, he faces tuition fees to obtain his graduation documents from the Arab Republic of Egypt. Fatima (24 years old) dreams of graduating as a pharmacist and starting her professional life. Followed by Azaddin (20 years old), whose ambition was to graduate as an engineer.
My mother is currently enduring the horrors of displacement with my siblings, without a provider. Fear grips me as I am far away from them, and my utmost dream is to reunite my family to live safely, away from the injustice and killing that haunt them.
