I need help, I got shot going to work February 5th
Donation protected
I need some help. I was on my way to work early on the morning of February 5th and I remote started my car as I was walking up to it. A car pulled up to my car and the driver hopped out and approached my car. I didnt think anything bad was going on I just thought it was an innocent person who may have been confused and thought my car was theirs or their friends, I didnt know they were there to jack me. It's still dark out at this time and I dont think they seen me approaching and when I got close enough I said politely but sternly "I dont think you have the right car, that's my car". The young man that was next to my car was indeed not an innocent person. He turned to me and said verbatim "we ain't even on that". It was at this point that i realized I was in trouble. I looked at the car that he got out of and there was a man with a gun pointed at me from the passenger seat. I looked back at the young man in front of me and he had a gun in both hands down by his waist. He raised the gun to me and asked me twice "where the keys at" and both times I stated I didnt have them. I didn't know what he planned on doing if I gave him the keys and I didnt know what he planned on doing regardless, I was in what I considered a life or death situation. I panicked looking down the barrel of his gun, I rushed him and broke his hands a part and somehow I knocked the gun out of his hands. I wrapped him up in front of me to protect myself and backed up away from the car with the other guy that had a gun. I wasn't paying attention and we fell over the curb, I still had the guy in front of me in an attempt to protect myself, I dont know how many shots rang out but that's when I got shot in my leg. I thought I was literally going to die. I looked up and there were 2 more people approaching me and both of them had guns. I stood back up and pushed the one towards the others and ran for my life. I was able to find a safe place with some friendly neighbors close by and thankfully I am still here. I frame houses for a living and I have helped build upwards of 60 houses. The bullet didnt break any bones but it went in and out of my calf and I havent been able to work because of the nerve damage and pain that has lingered ever since. If I could work I would but at this rate I would be a liability until i am healed. I fell behind on my bill's due to this and I didnt want to just come right out and ask for help but I am penniless and on the verge of losing everything I've worked for to be where I'm at right now and I really need some help to get caught back up before I do lose everything. I'm a hard working man and I do my best, I'm a good hearted person, I make mistakes I'm not perfect I just really need help right now and anything helps maybe a couple dollars and definitely a couple words, I dont know how I am going to get my car note and rent paid and i live by myself. I'm really hurting right now financially, emotionally, mentally and physically and I would really appreciate any help thank you.
Update as of 03/02/21
I really appreciate all of the donations and shares. I wasn't sure what was going to happen when I made this gofundme but the support i have received has been phenomenal. I am writing this update because I am changing my goal. I honestly didnt know there was a fee involved in GoFundMe (silly me). I am still recovering from the gunshot, I don't know why I have so much nerve damage in my foot but I can hardly walk or stand for 5 minutes without having excruciating pain, sometimes the pain happens even while I'm sitting down. I have to be very careful where I walk because my foot is so sensitive. Some people have said I should contact the Victims reparations board of Minnesota. I have contacted them numerous times and I have not heard back. I have also contacted the police department that is investigating this crime and I have not heard back from them either. I really dont know what to expect and if I want to get my bills paid and keep my stuff this us the only safe outlet i can use that i know would work. I am not sure how much longer I will be out of work, I am really hoping that it won't be more than 2 more weeks but I really dont know and at this rate it has been a month already and my foot hasnt really healed since the incident. Like i stated in my original post, I do carpentry for a living and I kind of need to be on my feet all day long to do my job. I hope this injury does not persist to the point where i have to find a new profession altogether. I graduated from high school but with no college diploma I cant really hop into any other profession and make nearly as much as I can make doing construction. With that being said I needed to raise my goal because I wasn't really thinking too far into the future and I honestly dont know when my foot is going to get better. Again, I really appreciate you taking the time to read this, I appreciate all of the donations and shares that I have received so far, and hopefully before March is over my foot will heal and I can get back to work and continue life as normal. Or mostly normal.
