Hi everyone,
I never thought I’d be in this position, and honestly, I’ve been embarrassed to ask for help. But after a year of struggling just to get by, I don’t see any other way out.
In November 2023, I lost my job as a Director of Operations due to a reduction in force. My new full-time job, which I start on April 7th, pays only half of what I was making before. It won’t cover all my monthly bills, which means I have to continue working Uber before and after my job just to survive.
Since December 2024, I’ve been driving for Uber to stay afloat, but in February, my car broke down, making it even harder to keep up. I got it fixed, but now routine maintenance is due, and I don’t have the money for it. On top of everything, my new job requires a certification to increase my pay, but I can’t afford the exam.
I’m already behind on bills, and April’s rent is due by the 3rd before it’s considered late. I have no choice but to push through, but in order to make rent in May, I’ll have to work 87.5 hours per week between my full-time job and Uber and that’s assuming I’m able to pay April’s rent by the 3rd. I’m already exhausted, living in constant survival mode, and have no time for anything outside of working, eating, and sleeping.
This past year has been incredibly isolating. I miss spending time with people, but every moment is spent just trying to stay afloat. And the hardest part of all of this is that I haven’t seen my son in a year because I can’t afford a flight. That’s what hurts the most.
I hate asking for help, but I don’t know what else to do. If you’re able to contribute anything, it would mean the world to me. I didn’t know what amount to put because what I owe on past due bills is somewhere between $6K-$7K and keeping my car in working condition is extra. I fully intend to work two jobs for as long as it takes to pay off my debts. My focus with this fundraiser is to be able to stop the debt from piling on and be able to pay my monthly bills. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you can offer.
