I am an author inspired by my own experiences as a high-masking, low-support needs, late-diagnosed autistic individual. My children's book, "I Need an Umbrella," addresses the often overlooked support needs of individuals like myself. The book aims to educate children on the importance of understanding and meeting the unmet needs of autistic individuals, rather than dismissing them as overreactions or dramatics. Through the story, I hope to foster acceptance and tolerance among young readers.

The book is intended for upper elementary students and older, but it can be enjoyed by all age groups, especially if parents choose to read it to younger children. The illustrations will be in black and white, with a pop of color in the form of a thought bubble over the main character's head, depicting what she needs. The final page will be in full color, symbolizing the fulfillment of her needs.

I am seeking to self-publish this book and have explored various self-publishing packages. The funds raised through this fundraiser will be used to cover the costs of self-publishing.
