I Lost My Mom at 14… Now I Need Your Help Getting Her Back

Hi everyone, I'm Tay. I don't know how to start this because I have struggled to make this for 11 years all because I truly hate asking for help, but I have put my pride and selfishness aside because my family & I NEED your help!

On October 14, 2015 my mother suffered a stroke due to taking birth control she was prescribed by an OBGYN in Columbus, OH, who promised her "no side effects." Needless to say, our reality became something we could have never prepared for- NOTHING has been the same for any of us since that day! Often times I feel like I lost my mom when I was 14 years old. I’m 25 now, still grieving who she used to be, all while still trying to adjust to a version of life that will never feel normal again. The worst side effect of the stroke wasn't even the immediate, direct effect it had on my mom but the life-long effects that can't & won't leave..
It meant never working a 9-5 again.
Never driving the busses & trucks again.
Never using her right arm again.
Never reading the same again.
Never speaking the same.
My mom's stroke didn’t just affect her physically; it took pieces of her independence, her confidence, and the life she worked so hard to get to, and as her child, I’ve had to grow up watching the strongest person I know lose pieces of herself, one by one.
As if all of that wasn’t enough, she has also battled breast cancer three separate times, ultimately making her undergo a mastectomy. My mom has fought harder than anyone I know, but while she continues to fight, life hasn’t slowed down around us. Because she’s unable to work, and the financial pressure has been overwhelming for us! Bills, transportation, and basic living expenses continue to pile up for all of us while we take care of her. I am doing the best I can, but it’s more than I can handle on my own & we are suffering, that’s why I’m asking for help!
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward:
• relocating my mom to be closer to family
• medical care and therapy
• medications and recovery support
• daily living expenses
If you can’t donate, sharing this means just as much. Truly.
If you’ve ever loved your mom or watched someone you care about go through something life-changing, then you understand why this means everything to me!
I pray everyday because I want my mom to have a better chance to live a long, healthy life. Thank you all for reading, for caring, and for helping us get through something we never expected.
