Zion is a 13 year old boy who desperately wants to see too.
He is from Lewiston, Maine who has been blind from birth. His blindness has caused him many challenges including a lack of mobility. This lack of mobility has left him with little Independence, leading to social, educational, and emotional struggles.
It's Urgent that Zion gets help NOW! As a young teen it is imperative that he is able to begin to navigate the world outside of his own home independently, because Zion would be able to navigate walking without a sighted guide. Importantly, vision will provide the opportunity play with other children, to be free of the feeling of being "lost" outside of his home, and to feel more like an independent young man. Best of all, Zion will be able to return to school to resume his education.
Although Zion cannot see because of non-functioning optic nerves, has the opportunity to gain some amount of vision using a new device that utilizes a camera that streams visual data to his brain using other nerves in his body. It is a miracle of science that Zion desperately wants and needs.
He has done the research himself! Zion talked to his medical team and contacted the makers of this vision device to inquire about training with the device and how much it would cost him to buy one..$10,000
With generous support from friends and family like you, we have the very real ability to give sight to the blind.
I am Zion’s uncle, Richard Stone from Greene Maine.
Funds raised will be spent on Visual aid Technologies like the Brainport Pro and devices/educational materials for the blind. Any donation over the goal will go towards training / education for the visually impaired and travel expenses for device procurement, training and education.
It is our intention to pay funds from this campaign directly to the sellers of needed visual aid devices, and to his family for travel costs of trainings/ education. Brainport training is in New York.
