I Got Robbed...They Stole My Mom’s Funeral Money

My mom recently passed on December 28, 2019. It was sudden and we were not expecting it. I was overseas at the time and when I got the word it was taking a turn for the worst, I immediately booked a ticket back to my family. On the way I got the heartbreaking news that my mom passed. She was the center of our family, the source of our strength, and a loving woman to everyone that met her. My dad, sisters, and I endeavored to give her the send off she deserves. When we found out that her life insurance wasn’t an option to pay for her funeral expenses, I drained my savings account. On the day I was supposed to pay for her services an individual working in concert with a get-away driver decided to tackle me to the ground and rob me in broad daylight in a busy grocery store parking lot. They stole my bag and $5,000 that was supposed to pay for my mom’s funeral. Fortunately I wasn’t hurt besides a couple of aches. After I spoke with the police, I was in crisis mode as I had to come up with the money to pay for everything. Fortunately between my father and I, we had enough on credit cards to cover the expenses. We basically maxed out everything. This is not about the money, it is more so to show my family that there is love out there. That through this difficult time there are people thinking about us. That there is good in the world.
