I Got Into Spelman’s Summer Program—Your Support Can Help Me

Dear Community,
I’m excited to share some big news—I’ve been accepted into the Spelman College Early College Program this summer! This is a four-week residential program where I will take college-level course in English on Spelman’s campus. While it doesn’t guarantee future admission, it’s an incredible opportunity—and a major step toward my dream of becoming a lawyer.
As a first-generation American, I’ve witnessed first hand the importance of resilience and community. My family came to the United States from Liberia, a country that has experienced its own cycles of struggle and renewal. Through their journey, I’ve learned how important it is to preserve culture, advocate for justice, and ensure that future generations have access to opportunity. These lessons have shaped my dream of becoming a lawyer who fights for those most vulnerable to systemic injustice.
Throughout my education, I’ve attended predominantly white institutions , and in many of my AP and honors classes, I’ve been one of the only Black girls in the room. It hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve stayed committed—earning honor roll status while working part-time at Jersey Mike’s to support my goals. I’ve come to realize how powerful it would be to study in an environment that affirms who I am and supports my identity. Spelman offers exactly that—a space designed for Black women to learn, grow, and lead.
The only challenge now is funding.
Unfortunately, the Early College Program does not offer scholarships, and I’m unable to cover all the costs on my own. That’s why I’m reaching out to my village. Whether it’s $5, $50, $500 or simply sharing this message, every little bit helps.
Please consider donating to help me attend Spelman this summer. Your support would not only help cover the cost of tuition but also bring me one step closer to my dream.
Thank you for always encouraging me and standing with me.
With love and gratitude,
