A Heartfelt Update from Karen: Holding Matt Close and Sending Our Love
Dearest Family, Friends, and Our Wonderful Community,
From the very bottom of our hearts, thank you. Over the last 18 months—since Matt’s first diagnosis of Colorectal Liver Cancer, and then the added diagnosis of Esophageal Cancer—your overwhelming love, text messages, comforting words, and prayers have wrapped our family in so much warmth. We truly could not have walked this road without you.
Matt has fought with every single ounce of his strength. He has been so incredibly brave, but his sweet body is tired and can no longer fight this terrible disease. He is now resting in hospice care, surrounded by love, and we are focusing every moment on keeping him peaceful, warm, and comfortable.
We are gently asking for your prayers right now. Please pray for a soft, smooth end to this journey for Matt, and please hold our family in your hearts as we navigate the unimaginable and learn how to go on without his bright light here with us.
Wrapping Arms Around Our Family Right Now
So many of you have asked how you can help ease the burden during these tender final days. While Matt made sure we would have life insurance to care for us later, those funds take quite a bit of time to process and pay out.
Right now, we are facing an immediate gap where everyday bills, utilities, and household expenses still need to be cared for. We want to make sure Karen can focus entirely on being by Matt’s side, holding his hand, and being present with the family without the heavy weight of financial stress pressing down on her.
If you are able to contribute a little bit of "stop-gap" support to help keep the household running smoothly over the next couple of months, it would be the greatest gift of peace of mind. If you aren't able to give financially, please just keep sending your love and prayers—we feel them deeply.
Thank you for being there, for loving Matt so well, and for holding us close when we need it most.
With all our love and deepest gratitude,
