I Entered an Ultra BikePacking Event

Donation protected
On June 25 this year I aim to cycle over 1,200km around Armenia in 8 days*. This was in no way a spontaneous decision, but one I have been considering for a while now.

Those that have cycled with me know full well, I'm not fast. Though self-supported ultra-distance bikepacking races aren't necessarily about speed, but rather your ability to simply keep going. This is what I'm curious about, and can't let go of this idea until I've given it a go.

However, the race is expensive. With entry fees alone at $300, and the need for mandatory electronic kit like a tracking beacon and GPS device, it comes in at a hefty sum for a recreational event.

Since the pandemic I've been living and working in Georgia, trying to develop a remote based career that will give me the flexibility to live the adventurous lifestyle I prefer. It's slow going, and money is tight, so I can't really afford the total cost of the race.

Here's where you come in. I'm asking for a little support, $10, $20, whatever you can spare to help me get to the start line in June.

Naturally, once I'm racing you can then you can sit back and enjoy the entertainment.

The race is called Ascend Armenia, check out the website and route details for yourself.

*slight disclaimer here. The race officials have set an official cut off period of 8 days, however, participants are still encouraged to complete the race. Finishing is the important part. So, while I would really like to come in under 8 days, my ultimate goal is to finish.
