Hello world!
My name is Isabella and I am a 20 year-old drummer and singer from Milan, Italy.
Ever since I was a little kid I've always felt drawn to music, growing up on pasta and rock'n'roll, bashing on pots and pans and listening to all kinds of songs. I started playing drums when I was 7 and this love still holds as strong as day one. After years of studying and playing, in 2024 I applied to Berklee College of Music, in Boston; I was admitted and I received a (small) scholarship to make my dream come true.
This first year there changed my life: I was immersed 24/7 in music and art, whenever I went I'd encounter inspiring people, from world famous musicians to extraordinary students, every day was an opportunity to get better and refine my artistry. I went from being a good drummer to a solid musician, with a deeper understanding of how music works and a clearer vision of who I am. When I arrived in Boston in September 2024 I had just started writing down my first melodies; now I just released my first single (fully written and produced by me) and I performed my first original music show as drummer and singer!
But that first year passed quick, and the family fundings are out. Although I know I will not most likely raise enough money to complete the three remaining years, I know (and most people tell me) that the second year is the one that could make the difference, pushing me light years ahead.
So, it is vital for me to come back this September, picking up from right where I left: I'd continue expanding my network, I'd play the sessions I've already been invited to by the incredible people who trusted me with their music. My dream is to live of my music, here in Italy this is not a real option, Berklee is my kickstart to reach the life I want.
The full cost of a year there, including tuition, travels and everything else surpasses $90'000. My family cannot afford another year, also considering I have two incredibly talent siblings, who deserve their chances too. Of that huge cost, less than 20% is covered by my scholarship; I will do the rest through debts, but I hope to raise enough money with this Gofundme, to relieve such a financial burden at the very beginning of my career.
The funds will be totally devolved to my education.
Thank you so (incredibly) much for your generosity and support.
Isabella
