Help evacuate Adam, Iyad and the Al-Kafarna family
Donation protected
The Al-Kafarna nuclear family has 18 children, from the ages of 2 to 18. Others in the family include Qasem's mother, two sisters, nine brothers (one missing since after Oct 7), four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law.
The entire family is separated and displaced within Gaza (they all lived together prior to Oct 7).
My wife, Anuja and myself, Alexander Robinson, set up this fundraiser to help evacuate Qasem's family, starting with smaller family units, consisting of children.
Here's the goal we have set up after discussing it with Qasem:
1. Evacuate Iyad (10 yo), Adam (7 yo) along with their parents Mohammad Zuhair Al-Kafarna, and Nouralsiam Ratib Al-Kafarna. They are currently the closest to the Egypt Rafah border.
2. Start planning to evacuate another family unit with at least one child, and closest to Rafah
3. Eventually evacuate the entire family
All the funds from the donations here will be going to Qasem Al-Kafarna, who is currently in Egypt.
The entire family will require close to $150,000 for their evacuation. We will be increasing the goal as we come closer to evacuating more members of the Alkafarna family.
Here's Qasem's story in his own words that will tell you more about his family's story and their life in Palestine as it stands today:
"So, to everyone who cares about humanity,
I Qasim Al-Kafarna
write this to you in a time of dire need. My family of 12 is currently in Gaza, and I have 18 nephews and nieces. My family is facing unimaginable circumstances. My family is desperately seeking your support to help them evacuate to safety. My mother, Lily, my sisters, Warda and Fidaa, my brothers (Iyad, Mohammad, Youssef, Abdullah, Ibrahim, Zakaria, Yahya, Issa, Musa)
I am away from my family because I came to Egypt before the war for a biopsy. I feel helpless while my family endures the hardships of the crisis. The situation has become bad, and I fear for their safety every day. Since October 7, my large family's home has been bombed and demolished. The occupation forces directed them to move south, but my mother is elderly and cannot walk long distances. Instead, my family was evacuated to the Hafsa School in Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, where they are living in increasingly difficult conditions. While my mother and part of the family is in the North, the rest are separated elsewhere in the South.
On December 10, two brothers, Iyad and Ibrahim, were arrested from school in Jabalia refugee camp by Israeli occupation forces. Iyad was released three weeks later, but Ibrahim remains missing. We didn't hear anything about him. The Israeli army killed my father and brother Shehadeh in 2006. I don't want to lose any more of my family members, I want to get my family out of Gaza and start a new life.
To evacuate and obtain permits to leave Gaza amounts to approximately $8,000 per person.
Your donation, no matter how small, will make a huge impact and contribute to reuniting my family in a safe environment. Please share this campaign with your friends, family, and colleagues to help us achieve our goal and bring my family to safety.
Your support means everything to me, and I am so grateful for any help you can provide during this difficult time. My family is not numbers, they have dreams. Together we can make a difference and help my family find safety."
My wife and I came across Qasem's posts in early January, and his story touched us. We really wanted to help him and got in touch with him promptly digitally to get to know him better. Post our verification processes, we set up this GoFundMe. We have been in touch with Qasem since then, and coordinating with him everyday.
We plan to use all the money collected through this GoFundMe to help evacuate Qasem's family as stated above, and that is the primary goal of this fundraiser. Qasem will be utilizing these funds and coordinating with Ya Hala Travel Agency for the evacuations. These steps will happen repeatedly, as we keep collecting donations and they reach the costs to help evacuate a family unit.
We live in the Boston area of Massachusetts in the USA. Qasem is currently in Cairo, Egypt.
If you are looking to further verify the legitimacy of this, please check out the Instagram accounts of my wife Anuja and Qasem Al-Kafarna.
With that said, we are asking for donations of any amount. Your donations will support the evacuation of Qasem’s family members out of Gaza and into Egypt and safety. The more money that is raised, the more members of his family he can save. The cost of border fees has skyrocketed amidst this crisis, now costing $8-10K per human life. But keep in mind that no donation is too small.
