Hi, I’m Charis, and I’ve decided the best way to raise money for a hospice is to launch myself out of an actual plane. Because apparently, that’s a thing now.
On 14th September 2025, I’ll be doing a tandem skydive (because jumping solo would be madness), all to raise funds for the amazing Tapping House Hospice – a place that gives people dignity, comfort, and compassion when they need it most. Basically, the kind of superheroes who don't wear capes, but totally should.
Here’s the kicker: I have ME/CFS and fibromyalgia – two chronic illnesses that sometimes leave me stuck in bed, barely able to function. Running a marathon? Nope. Sponsored walk? Bit ambitious. But hurling myself out of a plane at 10,000 feet? Weirdly… that’s on the cards.
Is this sensible? No.
Is this terrifying? Absolutely.
Am I doing it anyway? You bet your parachute I am.
This is a big deal for me – physically, mentally, and possibly gastrointestinally – but it's worth it to raise money for a cause this important.
Why Tapping House?
Because everyone deserves care, compassion, and a soft landing when life gets tough. Tapping House supports people and families through some of the hardest times imaginable – and they rely on donations to keep doing that vital work. Tapping House is committed to providing outstanding care for people in the local community living with life-limiting illnesses and to their carers, family and friends including bereavement support. The support provided is tailored to the individual, encompassing their physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs in an understanding, caring and compassionate way, ensuring dignity is maintained throughout, which I think is pretty dang awesome.
✨ How you can help:
Chuck a few quid into the pot. Cheer me on. Share this around. Basically, make sure my mid-air panic is worth it.
Let’s turn chronic illness and complete madness into something beautiful. Please donate if you can – and remember: I’m doing the falling so others don’t have to.
