In the summer of 2014, our local Crown Heights community endured numerous instances of gun violence.
After a first-hand experience dodging bullets at Jackie Robinson Playground, we took action and created the I AM PEACE 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament.
The tournament has gone on to become a pillar in our community, as we look forward to the 5th annual I AM PEACE Tournament on August 11, 2018.
Beyond this one day special event, we began piloting a mentorship program in late 2015, to expand our impact on the young men in our local community.
- college, career, and life readiness
- educational workshops and trips
- test prep and homework help
- monthly community dinners
- resume development and job placement
Early on, we set the long-term goal of developing a community center where youth are able to learn, grow, and prosper in a safe, welcoming space.
In 2018, after two years of work with our core group of mentees, we are ready to officially establish ourselves as a tax-exempt non-profit corporation and open the doors of our community center.
We have identified a near-perfect space in our local community and are ready to acquire it with your help!
Funds raised will be applied to the launch of the physical space, the growth of our mentorship program, and to conduct the 5th annual I AM PEACE Tournament.
Thank you for your support,
