On February 2nd of this year, at the age of 56, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer metastatic to bone in multiple locations including my backbone, ribs, neck and skull. This diagnosis has come as a shock to me and my family.
There is no cure for my cancer. There are treatments that I am receiving that will give me a few years of good health and I will battle to extend that time as long as possible. I currently have very good health insurance through my wife's employer to cover my medical expenses.
But I still have bills, expenses and lingering debt that I thought I would have 10-15 years to pay off and I worry about my family and their financial stability.
I normally would be embarrassed to ask for help, but when it comes to my family my pride goes out the window.
If you are able to help, every dollar will be used to make sure my family is in a secure position for the long term. In all of this I do not worry for myself, I worry about them.
I am so thankful for any help that you can give. It will help me focus on enjoying the time that I have with my family without that extra financial burden.
PS - I have learned that gofundme will ask you for a tip which supports their platform. That tip is voluntary and you are allowed to change it to a lesser amount or to zero. By default they will suggest a value that equals 15% of your donation amount. Your donation itself goes to me, any voluntary tip you give goes in its entirety to gofundme to allow them to pay their own expenses and continue to offer this valuable service.
