My name is Katy and I'm part of a group of artists friends from Victoria who have created this campaign to help Rose battle this Cancer.

On Boxing Day of 2023, our dear friend Rose Currie was given a devastating diagnosis: endometrial carcinoma - uterine cancer.

The current state of our medical system here has determined 12-14 weeks for the surgery after the initial consult. She had to wait already 2 months for the consultation.

Having decided not to wait, Rose has just gathered from an appointment at the University of Washington that this is grade 3 cancer - the worst kind; very likely to spread, which means the 12-14 week wait in Canada could literally take her life.

She will need to go south of the border for immediate surgery, chemotherapy and possibly radiation treatment. She has been offered a surgery date of March 12th.

Rose is a beautiful, vibrant woman. A mother of three, a wife to Brad, an artist poised for great things, a thoughtful and generous friend and an all-round amazing member of this community.

She kicked cancer’s ass once already, and now life has handed her another massive, terrifying challenge.

We are hoping to raise enough funds to cover all medical treatments, travel expenses including gas, tickets, food, accommodation and any other unforeseen costs that crop up during her surgery and treatments. The surgery alone has been quoted at $70,000, which means we have work to do!
