Help Angela Beat Lung Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jessica and I'm fundraising for my cousin Angela Varas. My cousin Angela is a wife and a mom of two beautiful, young girls. Up until recently, Angela was completely healthy, raising her family and living a normal, productive life. Eight months ago, Angela got sick with covid and even though she recovered she still had shortness of breath and a dry cough that came and went. One day just as she was starting a brand new job, she developed a high fever and sweating along with frequent urination. Due to her dehydration, she fainted and was sent to the emergency room following an intensive stay the doctors in the ER could not find the cause and sent her home. The next day the same symptoms returned. After 24 hours she started to experience chest pain and a high fever. After a follow-up with her primary care physician, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. She suggested an abdominal sonogram to look at her right side, following a finding of elevated liver enzymes during her ER stay. The sonogram tech requested an immediate chest X-ray the radiologist scheduled a CT chest Xray with contrast. Due to the results, she was admitted to the hospital STAT. The findings were a large pocket of fluid in the left lung (pleural effusion). She was told she only had 20-25% lung capacity. The next day they performed an emergency CT-guided left thoracentesis and inserted chest tubes. The chest tubes helped drained two liters of fluid from the lung. The left lung did not go back to normal capacity as expected. The fluid cytology was positive for malignancy. With various positive strains of lung Cancer known as lung adenocarcinoma stage IV. The thoracic surgeon mentioned that she would have to go through a major surgical procedure that involves correcting the trapped lung.
Cancer treatment isn't only challenging for the patient, It's expensive. With many associative costs not covered by insurance or even anticipated until yet another medical invoice arrives.
Angela had to stop working abruptly. And while insurance will cover many of what will be astronomical medical expenses there will be a substantial amount that will be out of pocket.
Angela and her husband Victor have support from friends and relatives who have offered help, but every donation is needed and greatly appreciated. Angela is a class-A worrier, especially concerning financial matters. This stress has robbed her of her sleep more than her diagnosis. Not having to worry about that so much will get her and her family through the treatment and recovery faster and easier. There is no donation too small to make a difference in the life of this family. Every penny counts.
Everyone who knows Angela knows her love and dedication to her children is the reason why she wants to get healthy and beat this sickness.
2/12/2023- I am so so thankful for everyones generous donations to Angela and her family. It means a lot to her and I. This has tremendously lifted weight of financial worry and is truly going to help her in fighting cancer. Please continue to share and help spread her fund me page.
