Hi everyone, this is the last position I thought we’d be in but here we are.

We’re in need of some help to raise money for Snoopys spinal surgery. He’s a nearly 11 year old staffy who has recently been diagnosed with arthritis in his hips and knees, even with pain medication and hydrotherapy he continued to get worse so we went back to the vets who suspected a neurological problem.

We were referred to a specialist vet where he has had MRI scans to confirm a bulging disc compressing his spine causing the ataxia, the scans were £4,000 and the surgery is just under £8,000.

He is insured for £6,000 per condition and we can’t change insurers due to pre-existing conditions and we already pay £123 a month for this cover.

If anyone could help even just a little we’d be so grateful! His insurance will cover some but not all of this cost and due to his age we have to cover 20% too. He’s really been through the wars recently in regards to his health. He had to have a few teeth removed, X-rays of his hips and knees. Then he was put on metacam for pain management which caused a stomach ulcer so he spent the weekend at the vet hospital after vomiting blood and now this. So he’s not having a very good time bless him, but he’s still in good spirits and charming everyone he meets in true staffy fashion! We’re hopeful that this surgery will work but there is the potential that they may need to go back in afterwards if no improvement, and he has 3 other discs they are slightly enlarged but not currently causing an issue.
