The Ashe Collective is a platform I created that focuses on ancestral storytelling and community outreach. "decolonizing my vagina" has been the main vessel for The Ashe Collective the past two years, with all proceeds of each past performance run being donated to non-profits after artists were paid. We've been fortunate enough to give to Maisiti Yukayeke Taino, Black Lives Matter, Jewish Voice For Peace, UNICEF for Hurricane Maria and Irene, and The Audre Lorde Project.
As we move into our third year and I turn 33, I'm using my power number of 3 to manifest my dreams into reality. If all two thousand plus people I know were to donate $33 or share the campaign, $60000 could happen! Enough to do a full tour, amazing outreach, and not starve in the midst of it all. Crazy idea, but worth a shot!
All funds raised go towards the production of the international tour, which will start at the Edinburgh Fringe and end back in NYC. In between I’m hoping to bring it to London, Mexico City, Los Angeles, the Bay Area, Chicago, and anyone who will have us! In addition to the production costs, funds raised will help us extend discount tickets to people of color, and help the facilitation of free creative workshops on decolonizing for marginalized communities of color.
I believe in this work wholeheartedly, have seen its impact thus far, and know this is where I can give back as an artist and activist. Your support in any way is greatly appreciated.
