Hyunjin Anna Kim

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I share the news that Hyunjin Anna Kim left us to be closer to God on January 8th 2023, at the young age of 33.

Hyunjin was a loving daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. She loved music and kids and greatly valued her faith. She found her passion a little later than most but worked hard towards achieving her dream of becoming a pharmacist. She graduated from Washington State University School of Pharmacy and found out she was in a late stage of pancreatic cancer just two days before she was set to take the Pharmacy Exam.

Hyunjin kept the details of her pain and struggles with cancer a secret from most and always put on a brave face for her loved ones because she was more worried about how her cancer would affect them more than she worried about herself. Even in what we could only imagine were her darkest moments, she laughed and joked, and stayed optimistic about the future. That is the type of person Hyunjin was and that is why her passing felt sudden, not leaving many people with the opportunity to say good-bye.

Hyunjin’s family has made sure that they were by her side every second of her cancer journey. Unfortunately, this meant that her family had to take time away from work, making their financial situation tight.

I am setting up this gofundme in hopes to lessen the financial burden for Hyunjin’s family during this already tough time. All funds raised will go towards funeral costs and to her immediate family to offset the cost of any financial burden accrued in the past several months. Hyunjin always worried about her parents and sister and this would mean so much to her. No amount is too small.

The Kim family will be holding a memorial service for Hyunjin on January 18th 2023, 1 pm, at Bonney Watson Funeral Home (16445 International Boulevard, Seatac, WA, 98188). Please join us in remembering Hyunjin.

저의 인생의 반을 함께했던 가장 가깝고 소중했던 친구 현진이가 1월 8일, 아직은 너무이른 나이인 33세에 하나님곁으로 가게되었습니다.

고등학교때 처음만나 15년동안 셀수없이 함께 많은 추억들을 쌓아왔습니다. 사소한것들로 웃고떠들다가도 우리의 미래에대해 진지하게 얘기를하기도하고 어떻게하면 우리의 믿음이 더 단단해질수있을까 고민도하며 가끔은 밤에 만나 차안에서 밤하늘의 별을 멍하니 쳐다보고있는 걸 좋아하는 친구였습니다.

힘든 4년이라는 시간을 약대에 다니며 공부를 마치고 졸업을했지만 약대시험 이틀을 남기고 췌장암 진단을 받게되며 하고싶었던 것들은 잠시 접어두고 2년3개월이라는 긴 시간동안 암이라는 병과 혼자 싸우며 이겨내야했습니다. 하지만 현진이는 그 어떤 상황에도 약한모습을 보이지않으려했고 항상 예전과같이 웃고떠들며 그 누가보기에도 아프다는걸 모를정도로 씩씩했습니다. 가장 힘들고 아픈 시간들속에서도 남을 먼저 배려하고 희망을 잃지않고 더 하나님을 깊이 찬양하며 기도했습니다. 저한테는 이 계기로인해 자신을 돌아보게되고 남들을 위해 기도해줄수있는 자신이되어 너무 감사하다고 말하던 그렇게 씩씩하고 따뜻한 친구였습니다. 갑작스럽게 떠나게되기전 더많이 아파졌을때도 혼자 감추며 밝은 모습만 보였기에 친구,가족,지인들이 마지막 인사를 할수있는 시간도 주어지지 않았습니다.

2년이라는 긴 시간동안 현진이옆을 지키는 부모님과 동생은 얼마나 힘드셨을지 상상도 할수가없습니다. 하지만 이제는 더이상 아프지않아도되는 천국에 가서 나중에 만날생각을 하며 보내주려합니다. 힘든 시간을 보냈던 가족들과 곧 있을 장레식을위해 조금이나마 보탬이 되고자합니다. 현진이가 항상 부모님을 걱정하며 멋진 약사가되어서 효도하고 싶어했던 마음을 너무나 잘 알기에 조그마한 보탬도 큰 의미가 될것 같습니다.

장례식은 1월 18일 (수요일) 오후 1시, Bonney Watson Funeral Home (16445 International Boulevard, Seatac, WA 98188) 에서 진행될 예정입니다. 현진이를 기억하는 이 자리에 함께해주세요.
