I come to you today with a grateful heart and in need of assistance. Many of you already know my story, but for those of you that do not, I would like to take just a couple of minutes of your time to share my journey to recovery from what I can only explain as a miracle of Gods will.

Monday, February 22, 2016, was supposed to be a normal workday for me. I left my home at 3:00 AM, unaware my life and the course of my family's life, would be forever changed. I was entering the 78 freeway when it happened.
*CRASH*
My truck, spun like a tornado until it stopped, facing in the opposite direction. I sat there pinned in my Toyota Tacoma, wondering, "what the heck just happened?" I remember hearing the sirens and seeing the flashing red and blue lights; then the voices of Firemen and the Highway Patrol as they cut me from this metal contraption which used to be my truck. They keep me awake by asking me questions I vaguely recall. Only the news of what happened resonates over and over. "You were in a head-on collision, with a vehicle driving 80 MPH on the wrong side of the freeway." I drifted off to EMT's speaking of multiple fractures while being transported via helicopter to the hospital. I wouldn't find out what fully happened on this early Monday morning until I awoke, 8 weeks later in the ICU of Scripps La Jolla Hospital.

5 months of hospitals and nursing home.
14 surgeries.
15 pounds of titanium, currently holding together the left side of my body.
20 months of intense water and physical therapy.
But 40 is my magic number. It is the amount of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Treatments I need to assist my body in its healing process.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy or HBOT as it is commonly known, involves exposing the body to 100% oxygen at a pressure rate that is greater than normal. Wounds need oxygen to heal properly. Exposing wounds to 100% oxygen increases the healing speed. HBOT has helped me tremendously so far. I have obtained feeling back into certain parts of my body. The size of my scars from the surgeries has reduced in size. It has helped reduce the burning in my legs due to the Neuropathy, allowing me to sleep better and reducing the pain from a 9 to a 2. Typically the protocol is 40 treatments to get your body fully saturated with oxygen and then maintenance treatments every month after. I have done 15 so far but I need more. Unfortunately, HBOT is not covered by insurance and I need help getting to 40. With my Veteran's discount at Paradise Hyperbaric's the rate is $175.00 dollars a treatment.
I am asking my family and friends if they would please pray and consider helping me through this journey to reach 40. I would like to leave you today with this: Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust the Lord with all of your heart; and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. No matter what we go through in this life we can choose to be bitter, angry or have resentment or be unforgivable, but having these things in our life will eat us up and tear us down into depression or anxiety. For a Christian to live with any of these things it will hinder our walk with Christ. You see I chose to forgive the person who hit me, even though I will never be able to meet them. I want my walk with Christ not to be hindered and I want to continue moving forward serving Jesus. Paul in the Bible talks about our walk with Jesus being like a race and we must continue to run the race with endurance to the end. This is what I want to do; continue to run the race the Lord has set before me with endurance all the way to the end. Sammie and I are very thankful for our sons, our Ohana, friends, and our Church.
