Hyperbaric oxygen system for Heather

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tony Davis and I'm crowdfunding to get a Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) system for my wife Heather George to support her treatment for Stage 4 breast cancer. Our target is £15,000 towards the cost of the system to be supplied by The Wellness Tree (www.thewellnesstreegroup.com).

Heather was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017 and had a lumpectomy. In 2021 they found a second primary cancer in the same breast and so had a mastectomy. In August of this year, after going into A&E with neck pain, this was found to be a secondary breast cancer tumour on her top vertebrae that had caused a compression fracture. Further cancer hot spots (metastases) were found on another vertebrae, two places on her pelvis, a rib and possibly her liver. She has now been declared "stage 4" - there is no cure, so our focus is prolonging her life, and quality of life, for as long as possible.

Through all of this Heather has continued to provide her therapapeutic Yoga, Pilates and Meditation classes. The wonderful messages of support she has received reflects the benefit that so many have gained from these classes - physically, emotionally and spiritually. Indeed, during the height of the pandemic, her Zoom classes were the main social interraction for a number of students. She has also provided so much support to family and friends, often being the first person anyone would turn to if they needed to talk through an emotional or medical problem, knowing they would be listened to and receive sound and caring advice & guidance.

Now Heather needs help. As well as the treatment plan provided by her oncologist, Heather has been very fortunate that a kind, old friend and colleague from Vorwerk Philip Davies has loaned her a hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) system for a few weeks. She really feels the benefit of using this once or twice a day for up to two hours. So now we want to get one for her and return Phil's so he can use it with other clients. There will obviously come a time when Heather will no longer need the system, so at that point we will donate it to a worthwhile charity for the benefit of others who need it.

For this therapy, you enter a special chamber to breathe in pure oxygen in air pressure levels 1.5 to 3 times higher than average. The goal is to fill the blood with enough oxygen to repair tissues and restore normal body function. It is used for many medical conditions to promote healing. For cancer it specifically recognises that cancer thrives in a hypoxic or low-oxygen environment. Scientific studies have shown that HBOT increases the oxygen levels to weaken tumours and reduce their aggressiveness, specifically for Heather:
Support the oncology treatment plan:
  • Improve effectiveness and reduce side-effects of radiotherapy;
  • Allows for optimal therapy dosage to be attained.
Support own immune system and natural 'killer cell activity':
  • Weakens hypoxic tumours
  • Targets metastatic tumours
  • Amplifies cancer cell death
  • Reduces tumour volume
  • Decreases inflammatory markers
  • Stimulates cellular detoxification
