Hylda was involved in a head-on collision on April 1, 2018, and has suffered broken bones in both legs, broken right ankle and broken right index finger. No head injury, thankfully. Apparently, the other driver had lost control of his vehicle, and when he pulled back onto the road he overcorrected and hit Hylda’s car head-on. The crash occurred on State Road 72 and both were airlifted to the trauma center at Sarasota Memorial.

Hylda has had 3 surgeries and was in the hospital for 12 days; she is presently in rehabilitation, and we don’t know at this point how long she will be able to stay there. Her spirits are amazing, but she will have up to an 8-month recovery process, possibly longer. Hylda’s auto insurance will only pay so much, and the other driver was uninsured. There is no health insurance in place.

We all love and know Hylda to be such a warm, caring person, with a huge heart for others. Please think about her situation, continue to send her prayers and positive energy, and if you can contribute anything to help her with the medical expenses, please know that she will be grateful from the bottom of her heart.
