Hyland Clan Recovery
Donation protected
"Maywood Road," as it is fondly referred to in our family, serves as the stomping grounds for three generations of the Hyland Clan.
This small bungalow was not only the welcoming home to the twelve children raised here by Leo & Coletta Hyland, but it served as the second home to many over the decades starting in 1960. Maywood Rd was home to the grandchildren who spent countless holidays and sleepovers, to the displaced friends who became family in this home, and to the adult family members who continued to call this haven their home again in later chapters of their own lives. From Papa's grill cemented in just outside the garage, to the crowded single full bath on the first floor, to the childrens' performances by the basement light, to the slate front vestibule that was the homegrown barber shop for buzz cuts, to the university acceptance letters and wedding invitations that came through the front closet mail slot, and to the crackling fires in the living room fireplace, this home has always been filled with memories made via unconditional love and support for one another.
Maywood Rd was not only the destination of innumerable treks home from St Greg’s afterschool and the bus stop, it has also been a gathering place in the face of family tragedy and loss. The couches in the living room well-worn from the celebrations and tragedies they supported across the decades of this clan. Several of the original clan members chose to raise their own families just a single block away from this mecca. Peggy and Jim "Bo" Hyland continue to embody the clan’s love in the tradition of our undying love for family in this home today.
On the evening of January 13, our family's treasured home was destroyed by a house fire. While we are blessed that no lives were lost in this tragedy, Bo will remain in the burn unit for several weeks to treat the 3rd degree burns that cover him from the waist up. As you all know, nothing is more important in this family than our clan members, and all will be surrounded by support and love, as we all heal inside and out, from this horrific event.
Above all, we ask for your prayers. Please keep our clan in mind in your petitions lifted up as we navigate the oncoming weeks and months of healing and repair from this immense loss. Should you have the ability to support the additional medical and home improvement costs that will result from this tragedy, the support would be greatly appreciated.
Our unconditional love always,
Julie Sanborn
