Hyeon Jun Kim Memorial Fund
It is with a heavy heart and deep regret we share that Hyeon Jun Kim passed away on September 24th at 5:26 pm, from his long and silent battle with cancer. He wished to keep his condition private as he wanted no one to worry or treat him any differently.
All raised proceeds will be given to the Kim family to help pay for their expenses. We all loved him beyond words and we want to honor his memory in any way we can. Hyeon Jun was absolutely always there to support us so we want to be there to support his family during this difficult time.
After years of treatment during his childhood and constant support from his family and friends, Hyeon Jun’s cancer went into remission. Throughout these years, Hyeon Jun cared tirelessly for others. He showed up for his friends constantly and always put them before himself. He was an accomplished student, talented musician, and hilarious storyteller. His faith was a constant throughout his life.
When he graduated from Tappan Zee High School in 2015, he pursued his bachelor’s degree at New York University. While pursuing his education, he learned his cancer had returned. He remained optimistic while fighting this battle. He fought his illness the best way he knew how: by living life to the fullest and keeping those he loved close. Hyeon Jun would be sure to call if he knew his friends had something on their minds and would frequently make the trek up the Palisades Parkway to visit his friends back in Rockland. Despite the medical conditions, treatments, and other challenges he faced, Hyeon Jun successfully graduated from New York University and began to work as an intern in dentistry with the aim of attending dental school.
Everyone who knew Hyeon Jun was touched by his selflessness, strength, humor, intelligence, talent, infectious smile, and the genuine compassion he had for others. While this news is heartbreaking and we are filled with sorrow, we assure you that Hyeon Jun would not want us to feel sad or bad for him. He would want us to find solace in his peace and celebrate his life through the cherished memories we all shared with him.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 29th, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Keeho Kim Funeral Home- 1601 Palisade Ave. Fort Lee, New Jersey 07024. All are welcome to come, but please bring a mask and respect social distancing guidelines.
