Supporting Families of H1 Tragedy

We were all devastated to learn of the Hydro One helicopter crash near Tweed on December 14th in which four workers lost their lives. We send our thoughts, prayers and condolences to all those who are mourning this horrific loss, including the family, friends and colleagues of our dear co-workers. James Baragar, 39-years-old, Jeff Howes, 26-years-old, Darcy Jansen, 26-years-old, and Kyle Shorrock, 27-years-old.
James, the helicopter pilot, was from the Orillia area and has been with Hydro One since May 2009.
Jeff, a Power Line Technician on the construction crew and resident of Bath, has been with the Hydro One family since August 2013.
Darcy, also a Power Line Technician, from Long Sault has been with Hydro One since August 2013.
Kyle, a resident of Inverary, was a Power Line Technician who has been with Hydro One since September 2014.
We also extend our gratitude to the first responders who attended the scene.
In order to further help support James’, Jeff’s, Darcy’s and Kyle’s families through this tragedy, The Society of Energy Professionals, the Power Workers' Union, and the Canadian Union of Skilled Workers have created this page so that friends and colleagues can help ease the financial burden on the families during this extraordinarily trying time.
Please give generously in honour of our fallen colleagues. All money collected will be given to the families.
Look after each other and work safely.
In solidarity.
