We are raising funds for the Hyde Park Community Fridge, a mutual aid initiative organized by community members. "Mutual aid projects are a form of political participation in which people take responsibility for caring for one another + changing political conditions ... by actually building new social relations that are more survivable.” - Dean Spade
Community fridges are a creative approach to fighting food insecurity and food waste that seek to provide nutritious food to all community members, without questions, 24/7.
The funds raised will go towards:
-The cost of construction and materials to build the shed and pantry for the community fridge (Total Cost: $939)
-Hiring a local artist to paint the shed and fridge
-Cleaning/sanitation supplies to keep at the fridge
-Monthly utility/electric bill to run the fridge
-Food, groceries, and other necessities to stock the community fridge
-Building and stocking a liberation library to accompany our fridge
