COVID-19 Ruined my life
Donation protected
I never had to ask for financial help from anyone until now. My story is simple, back in March 2020, I got laid off from my job due to COVID-19 Shutdown. Since then I have been on unemployment with the addition of the stimulus package. This wasn't my regular high paying job rate, but I was still able to survive. Now that stimulus is gone, its not enough to pay my rent. Just like millions of others in America today, I am facing eviction from my home. Add to the fact that Child Support has absorbed 80% of what I am getting for unemployment, I haven't gotten any money since. For the first time in my life I am facing being homeless by sometime in September 2020. I have been actively searching for a new job, but nothing as of yet. A few friends are trying to help me by inviting me to have dinner with them, but I can't do this forever. Even my dog is being affected by shortage of food, and soon no place to live.
**UPDATE Aug. 27, 2020**
I am very grateful to a neighbor of mine (David Frankel & his mother) who took care of my dog when I had my heart attack, and now makes sure that I have food to eat by donating food to me, He is a true friend, and he cares so much!
Thanks Dave & Mom.
Back in February, my father passed away, my only source of help. He left me an inheritance which I have to divide with my step sister. I have paid for all expenses until I ran out of money. She will not allow me to live in the residence until I get on my feet again. Now I can't even afford to fly out to the house to live there, and try to re-establish my father's small business to try to make a living. When I reached out to the state for assistance, they said that I don''t qualify due to my last year's salary was to high! What I managed to save up was drained by supplementing my monthly, and my late father's final expenses.
I don't live an extravagant lifestyle, nor do I waste money on frivolous things. I am a divorced father, who wants to have a roof over my head, pay my bills, and pay for my medical expenses. Now I just recovered from a heart attack this past winter, and a serious fall down a stairwell just last month. Plus I have to deal with my diabetes and who know what else. I can't get a damn break, if I could find a new job I wouldn't be requesting help from anyone, but this is my last resort.
Thank you,
Ricardo Rodriguez
