Dear family, friends, Tank and Rocky fans, and strangers with a heart - I'm reaching out asking for help to save my best friend, Tank. Anyone that knows me knows how devoted and completely obsessed I am with my dogs. They are basically my life (yes - I am that crazy dog lady).
In the past week, my world has completely shattered. My main man, bestie, little shadow and protector for the last 9.5 years fell ill. Last Tuesday my motherly instinct kicked in and I knew something wasn't right. Then the moment he refused dinner I immediately rushed him to the ER. It turned out he had a mass that had been growing in his stomach that needed to be removed, and needed to be removed right away.
The surgery went well but the recovery has been hell. Saturday his health really declined and left everyone close to him fearing the worst. After much convincing (due to COVID restrictions visitors weren't allowed) I was finally able to visit him on the fifth day. It was after my visit with him that the doctors called saying they were finally able to get his vitals readings and he was improving. I truly believe that visit gave him the will to keep fighting!
After 7 of the most awful nights of my life, he is finally back home. Although he is home, he still has a long journey ahead of him. Things aren't moving completely through his system yet, there's a chance his stomach could get distended again, and he's at risk for pneumonia due to his frequent regurgitating. The doctor did warn me that there's a chance I may need to make "a very difficult decision". But I know deep down he's going to fight this! His name is Tank for a reason!
His at home care is by no means an easy feat either. He is being fed a tiny amount every hour with a syringe over the course of 30 min. So needless to say, it is constant feeding. He is also too weak to walk more than a few steps so he is unable to go outside to use the bathroom. But I'd do anything for this little man so whatever I have to do, I'll do! Who needs sleep anyways, right?
This is why I'm here asking for your help - the total cost of his bill (8 days/7 nights) came to just over $11,000. After an initial deposit I am now faced with paying off $6,100. This leaves me with the difficult realization that I may not be able to afford any future costs for his care without help.
I never thought I would have to set up a fund like this, I never thought this would happen to me. But here I am. Tank and I are grateful for anything you can donate!
Please keep Tank in your thoughts and prayers. He is my world <3
